First direct elections for the entire lower house; USFP emerged as the largest party under the monarchy.

Held early following Arab Spring constitutional reforms; moderate Islamist PJD won plurality.

PJD retained plurality, though forming a government proved highly contested against royalist factions.

PJD suffered a massive defeat; RNI formed a new governing coalition aligned closely with the palace.

Scheduled 5-year cycle; RNI, PAM and PI coalition currently in power under King Mohammed VI.
